| Social Studies Social Studies concepts and
skills are developed throughout the elementary school
years in an ever-broadening perspective.
The intermediate elementary school grades (4-6) focus
on New Hampshire, the United States, and the world,
as students study geography, history, economics, and
government. As with the primary grades, environmental
education, current events, and character and citizenship
are naturally occurring elements of the curriculum.
By the end of Grade 4, students are expected to:
- Understand New Hampshire's history to the 1800's
- Have an understanding of the geography of NH
- Name and locate the 50 states
- Understand their physical environment, its formation,
and how it has affected people's lives.
- Understand the fundamental concepts of economics.
- Understand and participate in all aspects of classroom
and school government.
