Text Box: Rules and Expected Bus Behavior:
Freedom School Board policy for student conduct on the buses states that: “The school principal will have the authority to suspend the riding privileges of students who are disciplinary problems on the bus by failing to conform to the rules and regulations promulgated by the School Board (See RSA 189:9-1). Parents of children whose pattern of behavior and misconduct on school buses endangers the health, safety and welfare of other riders will be notified that their children face the loss of school bus riding privileges in accordance with the student discipline code”.

Pursuant to the above policy, the Freedom Elementary School will follow these rules and regulations dealing with incidents of student misconduct on school buses. Bus drivers, responsible to maintain orderly behavior for the reasons stated in the policy, will deal with students in a reasonable and fair manner by:

Step one:
The bus driver will speak to the student about the incident.

Step two:
The student may be moved to an assigned seat by the bus driver.
The Principal and the Transportation Coordinator will be notified.

Step three:
A bus conduct slip may be issued.
The Principal will meet with the student, bus driver and the Transportation Coordinator.
The parent will be notified.

Upon receipt of a bus conduct slip, the student must have the parent’s signature before being allowed back on the bus. Subsequent bus slips may result in transportation privileges being suspended at the discretion of the Principal.

In the event of a serious infraction of bus safety rules such as, but not limited to, fighting, possession of tobacco, alcohol, or weapons, a student’s bus riding privileges may be immediately suspended by the Principal.
