PHYSICAL CONTACT IS NOT PERMITTED AT THE FREEDOM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.  DISPLINARY ACTION WILL BE TAKEN AGAINST ANYONE WHO USES PHYSICAL CONTACT.
						
CONFLICT RESOLUTION
All other difficulties will be resolved through the Conflict Resolution Process which consists of all involved parties discussing and problem-solving the situation with adult facilitation.

Text Box: DISCIPLINE PROCEDURE
In the event that a student is sent to the office for disciplinary reasons, the teacher or staff member sending the student will complete a Discipline Slip which details the behavioral incident.

Behaviors which warrant a trip to the Principal’s Office:
Physical Contact

First Offense:  Warning of suspension in writing and by phone to parent;  Loss of recesses for the next two school days; Writing assignment detailing the behavior and corrective measures necessary (full page).

Second Offense:  Automatic suspension for one day; No opportunity to make up missed assignments; Parents notified by telephone and in writing of suspension; Two page writing assignment detailing the behavior and necessary corrective measures.

Using Profanity
Gross misconduct (failure to respond to teacher’s directions)

First Offense:  Automatic loss of the next recess; Writing assignment detailing the behavior and the corrective measures necessary.

Second Offense:  Parent contact made from the office; Loss of two days of recesses; Writing assignment to be signed by parent.

Teachers should make all attempts to address misbehavior and implement conflict resolution techniques, utilizing the office as a last resort (subject to individual incidents).
