Text Box: FIRE & EMERGENCY EVACUATION DRILLS The Freedom Elementary School is required to have periodic fire and emergency evacuation drills during the school year. Most are held without prior notice. Students will not have time to put on boots etc., therefore, they must wear sneakers or shoes while in the building. SCHOOL PARKING There are two parking areas at the school. One is beside the building and includes two handicapped spaces. The other is before the front entrance. We should have enough spaces, but at times people park along the driveway toward the town field. Please do not park on the grass! We also ask that you do not block access to the mailbox that is located in that area. Parking in the bus lane is prohibited. All engines must be turned off when parking! Please observe speed limit and do not exit through the entrance at any time! DISMISSAL PROCEDURE Students being picked up, walkers and bike riders will wait in the library until the buses have departed the school grounds. Students will not be released to parents until the buses have left the parking lot. The teacher on duty will bring the children to the lobby to meet their parents. If you need to pick your child up earlier, park your car beyond the bus lane and come to the office before 2:55 p.m. Students who are to be picked up, or plan on walking home MUST bring a note or they will access their regular mode of transportation. If you need to dismiss your child early in the school day for an appointment, please come to the office and sign your child out. Your child will be sent to the office to meet you. We are concerned for everyone’s safety and we appreciate your cooperation. Also please note, the driveway is a one-way road and parents should not exit through the entrance! TOWN LIBRARY The Freedom Elementary School is fortunate to have such a good town library nearby. They have been a great source of help to us over the years. Each teacher has been encouraged to use this source as often as possible. Students will normally walk to and from the library under the supervision of the teacher. SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS The Freedom Elementary School is pleased to have volunteers in our building. During this school year we will be making a strong effort to tap into our many resources of our community.
