How can I tell if a website is reliable or not?
According to Julie Smith, MS, RD, most reliable Web sites list background information about the organization supporting the Web site and the writers who provide information for it. If sponsorship information is missing...BEWARE. It may mean that the creators of the Web site lack training to provide accurate information. If credentials are provided read them carefully. Is the site supported by accredited institutions or reputable organizations? Is the information based on sound science? Many Web sites present biased, unsupported information, not scientific facts. So be sure you are getting information based on facts - and getting it from respected authorities.
